Marie is an avid history buff, researching and writing about her family history and the history of Davie County, North Carolina. At the Davie County Library in Mocksville, her five published books on local history are located in the History Room.

History of Davie County Schools tracks the school system from the 1700s through 2010. This book is a 2011 winner of the North Carolina Genealogical Society Award and the North Carolina Society of Historians Award.

Davie County in World War One contains not only the stats of who served in the war, but letters home, photos of sweethearts left at home, and keepsakes given to sweethearts or wives as men went to fight. Winner of the Willie Parker Peace Award and the President’s Award.

Davie County Veterans’ Memorial profiles the memorial and its construction as well as the names of those who died in service to our country.

Davie County in the Spanish-American War chronicles those who served in this war.

First Responders remembers those who died in the line of duty in Davie County.
